Disclaimer

As most of you know by now, I’m the luckiest girl in the world, because I got to turn my passion (aka this blog) into my job! Hip hip hooray! That does mean the blog has to earn its keep, and I do that by working with brands in a few different ways. I want to be fully transparent with you, so I wrote this disclaimer. It covers every type of collaboration I do and how I handle paid work, so you always know what to expect from me as a blogger. Still have questions? Fire away! I’d much rather answer them out in the open than start rumors by accident. :) You can also find this disclaimer in the menu at the top of the page.

Collaborations

Hardly a day goes by without a new collaboration request landing in my inbox. I love that so many people and brands want to work with Ellen’s Cozy Kitchen. But if I said yes to everything, you’d get nothing but ads thrown at you, and that’s the last thing I want. That’s why I weigh every offer carefully. Does the brand fit my blog? Will you get something out of it? And do I believe in the brand myself? If the answer is yes, I’m usually happy to take it on.

Lots of companies ask me to promote their products for free, or in exchange for more products. If I love a brand, I’ll sometimes say yes. But I don’t want to be promoting something every day, so I’ve become more and more selective, and paid work gets priority. Here’s what a collaboration can look like:

  • Reviews: Brands regularly send me products, but that doesn’t mean I’ll review every one of them. When I do write a review, it’s because I think the product is a good fit for you and for my blog. You’ll always get my unfiltered opinion, whether the review is paid or not. And if I’m paid for a review, I’ll always say so in the post.
  • Advertorials: Sometimes a brand asks me to come up with a recipe using their product and write a blog post about it. That’s called an advertorial. If it’s paid, I’ll always make that clear, either in the text itself or in a short disclaimer in the post.
  • Social media: I’m also often asked to share products on social media. If I think a product is worth it for you, I’ll feature it and always add #ad or #sponsored, so it’s clear it’s paid content.
  • Affiliate links: In short, these are links to products that earn me a small commission when you buy through them. I’m part of a few affiliate programs. You’re never under any obligation to buy anything, but if you’d like to pick up something I mention, you can use my link and I’ll earn a little from it too.
  • Giveaways: I like to spoil you every now and then, so I often say yes to giveaways, again only when the products fit what my blog is about. Most of the time, and so far every time, giveaways aren’t paid. I get a great prize to give away instead. The collaboration behind a giveaway is always mentioned in the post.
