About Ellen’s Cozy Kitchen

From playing “little chef” as a kid to launching my own food blog at the end of 2014: it’s been quite a journey. What started as messing around in the kitchen slowly grew into a search for a healthier lifestyle, and eventually became a real passion for good, wholesome food. I’ve been sharing my recipes for over +10 years on my Dutch blog Kokerellen, and now I’m so excited to open the doors of Ellen’s Cozy Kitchen, bringing that same love for simple, tasty food to readers all over the world!

How it all began…

Like with any new adventure, there was a lot of thinking and preparation involved beforehand. I loved sitting with the idea, but of course there were doubts too… The world of food content was already huge, and it wasn’t easy to stand out as original and engaging. Still, my minimalist style of cooking clicked with people right away! Bringing that to life by diving into the blossoming world of food blogs and vlogs was the icing on the cake.

And look at it now: my recipe website has been cared for with a lot of love, and has grown into a real teenager (as of 2024!), itching to keep developing.

Every child is unique, and with Ellen’s Cozy Kitchen, I want to bring you fresh, tasty, easy, and high-quality dishes. I also love answering the questions people often have about ingredients, cooking methods, kitchen tools, and ways to get a delicious meal on the table without too much fuss. Because honestly, can’t it always be just a little simpler and faster?

What’s cooking around here?

In my weekly blog posts, you’ll find healthy, varied, no-nonsense recipes that fit right into today’s busy lives. No endless ingredient lists with hard-to-find products. Just tasty, quick, and nourishing food, packed with fresh vegetables that are good for the body and kind to the soul.

I love traditional cooking, but I also find it fun and challenging to give those familiar classics a new twist. I like putting together surprising combinations too, experimenting with the growing range of international ingredients available at the supermarket, as well as delicious local, short-chain products.

Meet Ellen

I’m not just the “mom” of this food blog and a couple of inspiring cookbooks (‘The Breakfast Club’ and ‘Gezellig Kokerellen’). I’m also mom to two real, wonderful kids. Especially for our daughter Anna and son Mil, it matters a lot to me to cook yummy, healthy food they can really enjoy. Whether they always finish their plates, we’ll just leave that up in the air…

When you’re passionate about something, it’s wonderful to be able to share it with the people you love. I feel very lucky to be able to do that with my family, relatives, and friends. Enjoying good food together, having great conversations, and swapping ideas about flavors and cooking is a huge source of inspiration for me.

Cooking, writing, family life, my social life… you could easily call me a busy bee. To keep my day-to-day a little balanced and give my mind some rest, I like heading out into nature, working out, or curling up on the couch with a good book (romantasy reader here!) and some homemade Oreo truffles, together with our cats Lily and Peach…

My passion, now my job!

In September 2016, I reached a first milestone with Kokerellen by officially turning it into my part-time job. Grateful and driven, I kept riding that same momentum, and since early 2021 I’ve been working on my dream project full-time.

I’d love to take you along on this adventure into the world of Ellen’s Cozy Kitchen, to discover all things delicious, fun facts, handy tips, and my personal experiences and insights along the way.

I also love putting our heads together to give your brand a custom look through unique, eye-catching food content. You can count on a level of commitment where every detail matters. After more than 10 years of working with a wide range of clients, I’ve become pretty skilled at creating real added value for your business.

Through a ‘blog post’ collaboration, you get tailor-made content with detailed recipes, complementary copy with the right links, and beautiful, expressive photography. If you’d like, this can be expanded with a cooking video, social media posts, or a giveaway… Alongside that, I also love expressing my creative side as a food stylist, capturing professional food photography for your projects.
